TEACHER: ARADHANA MAHOKDA
Aradhana has recently joined the
school. She first heard about the school from a former
teacher, Seema Mahobiya, who taught at Abhilasha for
four years. Aradhana used to run a workshop from her
home, mainly embroidery work on saris and other delicate
materials. She is now a full time teacher and teaches
grade 1.

Goals?
I’ve thought myself to do everything
and now it’s my turn to teach these children
and show them that anything is possible if you
put enough hard work and dedication into it.

TEACHER: JOTI PATEL
Joti recently joined the Abhilasha
school in early July. She taught in a local community
school for one year before receiving a position at
Abhilasha. She is also a trained kathak and classical
Indian music teacher and hopes to pass on her knowledge
and skills to the students at Abhilasha.
Jyoti heard about the Abhilasha in
the local newspaper and was greatly impressed with
what the school was able to achieve with its students
and decided that she was interested in being part
of such a worthy project.
 |
Goals?
I want to prove to our community and society
in general that these children are capable of
great things and all they need to get there
is guidance and support.
|
TEACHER: REEMA VISHNAW
Reema joined Abhilasha in July. She
holds a teaching degree and also found about the school
through a newspaper article published about the school.
She has taught students up to grade 10. She felt welcomed
by her fellow colleagues and the children and at present
is enjoying overcoming the everyday challenges together
with the children.
 |
Goals?
I want to change the world - one student at
a time.
|
TEACHER: MAHINDRA SINGH YADAV
Mahindra Singh has a bachelor’s degree in Commerce
and used to be a supervisor in an iron company. Mahindra
used to drop his sister to work at the Abhilasha school,
where she was a teacher and decided to quit his job
at the company after seeing the impact he could potentially
have on the lives of these children. He now confesses
that he can’t believe why he didn’t join earlier when
he could have been at Abhilasha making a lasting impression
on the young minds he has the honor of teaching.
 |
Goals?
Inspire the children to do something good with
their lives - reach their full potential and
not rest until they do.
|
TEACHER: NARANDEV DEVDAS
Narandev used to be a drycleaner. He found out about
the Abhilasha school through his friend Ram Kumar
who has been teaching at the school for a number of
years. It’s been 6 months since he has joined and
says that it was the best decision he could have ever
made. He recalls his first day of work as if it was
yesterday and smiles while saying: “It felt like I
had been here for months already - everyone was so
friendly and welcoming. I felt I already knew the
children.
 |
Goals?
I want to show the whole of India that
these children are no different from any other
and can contribute to our society as active
and well-rounded members.
